Honors & Awards

Congratulations to Ben Hazel Primary and Brunson Elementary for being recognized as a Red Carpet School.

A Red Carpet School does an outstanding job of creating a family-friendly school environment and providing excellent customer service, according to the State Department of Education.

The Red Carpet Schools initiative was one of only two programs in the nation to receive a Distinguished Single Project Award from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) in 2003. The program has also been featured in NSPRA's monthly newsletter as well as the monthly newsletter of the National Elementary Principals Association.

Previously recognized Hampton One Red Carpet Schools include Hampton Elementary, Varnville Elementary, and Wade Hampton High School.

Congratulations to Brunson Elementary for being recognized as a 2008-2009 Palmetto Showcase School.

As part of the Palmetto Gold and Silver Awards program, the Showcase project provides a milieu for educators in which to network to learn about the best practices in their neighboring schools and to help create learning communities among all the schools across the state.
